Robert lives in a small town. Five years ago, when he was nineteen, he finished middle school. He didn’t like any subjects except playing when he was at school. Of course he learned nothing and the bosses wouldn’t use a man like him. He has to stay at home, but doesn’t do any housework, only watches TV or lies on bed. It makes his parents angry. When I was growing up in America, I was ashamed of my mother’s Chinese English. Because of her English, she was often treated unfairly. One day, a man found the cocoon (繭) of a butterfly and he brought it home.

If the butterfly never has to force itself out of the cocoon, its wings never get the fluid and it can never fly.
Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our lives. If we lived our lives without any problems, we would never learn or grow. We would not be as strong as we could have been and we would never fly.
So, the next time you are faced with a challenge or a problem, remember the butterfly.
